Show: Revealed

If it seems like Revealed host Veronica Valencia and her uber creative team — David Bohler, Tommy Rouse and Joshua Smith — know each other really, really well, it's because they do. They go way back; all the way back to the set of high-intensity home improvement show Extreme Makeover.

"On the show, we were a tight-knit, behind-the-scenes design team," Veronica tells HGTV. "We’d come into communities and take over a town. We've worked on more than 1,000 projects in 34 states."

Fifteen years later, the fun-loving foursome is finally getting the on-screen love they deserve. And though they’re accustomed to tight budgets, seemingly impossible executions and stay-up-all-night timelines, filming Revealed was a new kind of challenge. While shooting the pilot, they discovered there's a difficult balance between meeting on-screen expectations and getting the actual job done.

But, of course, these guys know how to work together to support Veronica’s vision. Their shared respect for her passion makes design collaborations easy. Ahead, learn more about this special crew and their respective roles on Revealed.

Resident Dad and Builder: David Bohler

David Bohler offers more than his master building skills. He also supports the team as the resident group mentor. He's left his mark as director of construction on an impressive slew of design shows: Extreme Makeover, Celebrity IOU, Barbie Dream House and Rock the Block. He's one of the best in the biz.

A quintessential family man, he and his wife Jen have two children, Jake and Julianne, and a lovable Bernese Mountain Dog, Mav. They live and work in Pasadena, Calidoenia, where their business, Bohler Builders Group, is based. David often pulls his family into his projects behind the scenes.

It’s hard to find a builder with the kind of motivation, stamina and inspiration David brings to every job. He's known as a trustworthy collaborator and ideas man. “He’s a solutions builder, which is rare,” says Tommy. He also manages the budget. Without his eye to every penny, projects might not be done as affordably or efficiently.

The Design Guru: Tommy Rouse

"Life of the party" Tommy Rouse brings his eagle eye for design to the set of Revealed, supporting Veronica’s vision and acting as a sounding board for her most elaborate plans. His attention to detail helps bring her visions to life in a granular, perfect way. In fact, his designs may feel familiar: He's been nominated for multiple Emmy awards for his work as a production designer on the show Queer Eye.

It doesn't stop there. He's also the founder of Avenue Twelve, a design and rental studio that supplies furniture and other goods for weddings, parties and events in Southern California. His biggest brag: As the tallest in the group (he clocks in at 6' 4"), he’s the go-to when it comes to installing high shelves or changing lightbulbs.

If you scroll way back through his Instagram photos, you’ll see a decade’s worth of memories between him and Veronica as they traveled, designed and explored the world. The duo has such a tight bond that Tommy actually officiated Veronica's wedding.

The Ideas Man: Joshua Smith

Tommy works side-by-side with his husband of 17 years and best friend, fine artist and oil painter Joshua Thomas Smith. The duo met in 2006 and have been together ever since. They live in San Luis Obispo, California, with their two miniature dachshunds, Moose and Oliver.

Joshua is Veronica’s muse. Whether she's creating a piece of art or exploring the idea of putting a mural on a client's ceiling, he's her trusted and talented go-to. Involved from beginning to end, he approaches every project with patience and thoughtfulness.

“[This show goes beyond] ancestry,” says Joshua. “Understanding their likes and dislikes — their favorite flower, where they like to eat, where they like to go on vacation we really dive in to find out who they are before we design.”

The coolest fun fact about Joshua? He's a colorblind artist who can create gorgeous landscapes full of bright and varied hues.
